Preparing Hearts and Minds

Saint John Paul II is a private Catholic school serving preschool through eighth grade students. We are a parish school affiliated with St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Southern Pines, serving the children of Moore County, Lee County, Hoke County, and Ft. Bragg areas. Our beautiful campus is centrally located between Southern Pines and Pinehurst, North Carolina.

We provide our students the opportunity to grow and develop in the knowledge and love of a Triune God. Saint John Paul II Catholic School affords students the best opportunity to realize the threefold purpose of Christian education: mission, community, and service.

A Message from Our Principal

Dear Families,

I came across a study guide for Mr. O’Connell’s seventh grade religion class’ unit test containing the topic “Gift of Self,” which was defined as sharing our talents and gifts, helping our family, volunteering, and even sacrificing our lives for another. This is a central truth of our faith articulated extensively in St. John Paul II’s Theology of the Body, and we can also consider it a key charism of our school.

We incorporate this Christian anthropology throughout our entire K-8 religion program. Our patron’s motto was “Totus Tuus” - totally yours, the ultimate expression of the concept of “Self Gift.” God’s infinite love has given Himself to us in the person of His son. We in turn are meant to give ourselves to our family and our community. In fact, self-gift is what it means to be a person. We come into existence as a gift, and in turn, we fulfill who we truly are by making a sincere gift of ourselves to one another. May we continue to seek to understand and live out this amazing mystery, even in the midst of these very challenging times.

We look forward to the return of the 8th grade class to campus this Monday, assuming everyone remains healthy. So far so good. If anything changes, we will let you know.
